Solar Civil Engineer Required in Bahrain


Job description

The Civil Site, is responsible for overseeing the civil works related to solar energy projects, including site preparation, foundation work, and the construction of civil structures required for the installation of solar panels, inverters, and other system components. With 8 years of experience, including 5 years in similar works, this position demands expertise in civil engineering, project coordination, and site management, ensuring that projects are executed safely, on time, and in compliance with all regulations and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Site Preparation & Planning:

• Conduct site surveys and assessments to determine the appropriate civil engineering requirements for solar projects.

• Prepare detailed site plans, ensuring proper layout, access roads, and infrastructure needed for solar system installation.

• Oversee the preparation of the site, including excavation, grading, and foundation works for the solar panel mounting structures and electrical systems.

2. Foundation & Structural Works:

• Supervise the design, excavation, and construction of foundations for solar panel arrays, electrical equipment, and supporting structures.

• Coordinate with structural engineers to ensure that the design and construction of foundations meet the necessary load-bearing and stability requirements.

• Ensure the proper installation of support structures, ensuring they meet engineering specifications and are aligned with project requirements.

3. Coordination & Site Supervision:

• Supervise on-site civil works, including managing subcontractors, labor forces, and equipment to ensure work is carried out safely and efficiently.

• Monitor the day-to-day activities on-site to ensure compliance with safety protocols, design specifications, and project schedules.

• Coordinate with other engineers, project managers, and external contractors to resolve issues or delays related to civil works.

4. Quality Control & Compliance:

• Ensure that all civil works meet local building codes, industry standards, and project specifications.

• Perform regular inspections and quality checks on materials, workmanship, and completed works.

• Document and report any issues related to the quality of work and suggest corrective actions when needed.

5. Material Procurement & Resource Management:

• Assist in the procurement of civil materials, ensuring timely delivery of materials needed for site preparation and construction.

• Ensure efficient use of resources (labor, materials, and machinery) to avoid project delays or cost overruns.

• Maintain an inventory of materials and ensure proper handling, storage, and security on-site.

6. Site Safety & Environmental Management:

• Ensure strict adherence to safety standards and protocols on the construction site.

• Conduct regular safety inspections and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential hazards.

• Ensure compliance with environmental regulations during the construction phase, including waste management, soil erosion control, and minimizing environmental impact.

7. Project Scheduling & Reporting:

• Develop and maintain detailed project schedules, ensuring civil works are completed on time and in line with the overall project timeline.

• Provide regular updates to the Project Manager on the progress of civil works, including any issues or delays encountered on-site.

• Assist in the preparation of reports documenting site activities, inspections, and work completed.

8. Problem Solving & Issue Resolution:

• Identify and address any technical issues related to civil works during the project lifecycle, ensuring solutions are implemented in a timely and cost-effective manner.

• Collaborate with the engineering team to resolve any challenges related to the civil aspect of the project.

9. Commissioning & Handover:

• Ensure that all civil works are completed to the required standards and ready for commissioning.

• Provide final documentation, including as-built drawings, material certifications, and any necessary approvals for handover to the client.

Qualifications & Experience:

• Education:

• Bachelor’s degree in Civil Engineering or a related field.

• Additional certifications in project management, safety, or construction are an advantage.

• Experience:

• Minimum of 8 years of experience in civil engineering, with at least 5 years in the solar energy sector or similar renewable energy projects.

• Proven track record of managing civil works on large-scale construction or solar projects.

• Skills:

• Strong knowledge of civil engineering principles, including structural design, site preparation, and foundation works.

• Proficiency in civil engineering software (e.g., AutoCAD, Revit) and other project management tools.

• Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, construction plans, and project specifications.

• Strong leadership and site management skills, with the ability to oversee teams and subcontractors.

• Excellent problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.

• Other Requirements:

• Ability to work effectively in a dynamic and fast-paced environment, ensuring that project deadlines and safety standards are met.

• Familiarity with safety regulations and practices on construction sites.

• Willingness to work on-site and handle physical tasks related to civil engineering.
